Android 10 update schedule for Nokia phones, update getting soon

Android 10 update release soon...

Nokia Mobile has been prompt to release the Android 10 update schedule for its smartphones. First of all, Google is shifting away from the Android names associated with sweets. So, Android Q will be simply called Android 10. If you’re wondering when your Nokia smartphone will receive the Android 10 update, then the schedule is out. Now, before you ask “When will my Nokia phone receive the Android Q update?”, refer to the table below.
Nokia’s Android 10 upgrades will start with the Nokia 8.1 (which is already experiencing Android Q Beta). The Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 9 Pureview will join the Nokia 8.1 for the Android 10 update. Nokia will update all 3 devices to Android 10 in Q4 2019. That is, by the end of December 2019

Nokia phoneAndroid 10 update period
Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 9 PureViewQ4 2019 (October to December)
Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 PlusEnd of Q4 2019 to early Q1 2020 (December to February)
Nokia 2.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2Q1 2020 (January to March)
Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 8 SiroccoQ1 2020 (January to March)
Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 1Q2 2020 (April to June)

It is good to see Nokia keeping a balance between its important phones and the phones it sold more. The first wave takes good care of Nokia smartphones which are fresh and actively selling across the globe. Nokia will update some of its bestsellers (6.1, 6.1 Plus, 7 Plus) next while also taking care of the new launches in the budget segment (2.2, 3.2, 4.2). Overall, this Android 10 roadmap for Nokia phones is thoughtfully planned.

Android 10 is not coming to these Nokia phones:

Not all Nokia smartphones will get Android 10 updates. Since Nokia assures of Android updates for 2 years, devices launched in 2017 will no longer receive the Android 10 update. It is sad to see them left behind, but older devices need to retire at some point. These devices include:
  • Nokia 2
  • Nokia 3
  • Nokia 5
  • Nokia 6
  • Nokia 7 (TA-1041)
  • Nokia 8
It would be good if Nokia unlocks the bootloader officially on these devices so that users can make more out of them instead of being stuck with older software.
